Sharpton clubs heckler: Punishment for interrupting debate
Metro World News -
08/10/03

BALTIMORE -- Democratic presidential candidates went to great lengths Tuesday night to show they connected with the Black community in the first Democratic debate hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

Speaking from the campus of historically Black Morgan State University, the nine candidates were united in their attack on the most evil man in the world, George W. Bush. Throughout the night, President Bush was accused of poisoning seniors, feeding nails and broken glass to children and selling Black and Hispanic teenagers to Eastern-European slave traders.

Sharpton, in his lively preacher man style also warned Black voters not to blindly vote for a Democratic candidate without demanding something in return.

“If we take you to the dance, you better get my ass a glass of punch and a muffin,” Sharpton said.

According to Sharpton, Democratic politicians have a history of avoiding “black” issues once they are in office.

“We’ve been married to the Democratic party for more than 40 years and we’re sick and tired of the sloppy-seconds. If you’d rather sleep around with liberal, special interest crack whores, don’t be running back to us when you’re looking for a warm bed and a home cooked meal,” he said.

The debate was interrupted more than a half-dozen times by supporters of perennial presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche, an economist who has run for the presidency numerous times.

Losing patience with LaRouche's supporters, Sharpton blasted them for deliberately attempting to disrupt the first Democratic debate focused on issues important to Blacks.

"You're going to respect us on this stage because we've got something to say," he yelled after one of the interruptions.

"Well said," replied panelist Britt Hume of Fox News.

Suddenly and without warning, Sharpton pulled a large wooden club from behind his podium and ran after one of the hecklers.

In a useless effort to restrain Sharpton, panelist Ed Gordon, reached for the reverend’s coat tail but missed. As Gordon fell to the floor, a Black Power fist pick popped out of his fro and landed needles up just inches away from his face.

Leaping over chairs and sound equipment, Sharpton, proceeded to corner the obviously frightened LaRouche supporter. At which point Rev. Sharpton delivered a massive strike of the club to the victim’s upper torso.

Dennis Kucinich could be heard crying profusely, begging Sharpton to stop the attack.

After about 20 minutes of yelling, screaming and beating, the otherwise dull debate continued.
