Rumors
fuel early speculation over Sharpton veep-stakes
Metro - 06/26/03
CHICAGO -- Appearing with the Rev.
Jesse Jackson before the Rainbow Skittles Coalition
audience of more than 2500, Sharpton said he was “not
ready yet” to select a vice-presidential candidate.
The Reverend also said that his list of prospective
vice-presidential candidates was down to “a very
few” names, but refused to specify who they are.
Contenders most frequently mentioned
include New York Sen. Hillary Rodham-Clinton, of course.
Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, University President
Bob Jones III and former African-American Michael Jackson.
Despite the speculation about Al Sharpton’s
possible running mate, the search for a vice presidential
candidate is a pretty tight operation. It’s been
said, the only ones who really know are Nay-Nay, Doolittle
and David, three of Rev. Sharpton’s closest advisors.
...And according to Franky, who spoke
with Douglas about the conversation he had with Jose
regarding the voice he overheard speaking to Rebecca
concerning the talk he had with Linoleum, Chiquita and
Mrs. Chen, Mahmood is pretty sure Doolittle likes Mrs.
Clinton. However, Franky said he wasn’t sure.
When Sharpton was asked about
the rumor, he denied everything. “I don’t
even know her”, Sharpton said.
