Sharpton
threatens to sue Elementary School over obscene letters
Metro
MICHIGAN -- The Rev. Al Sharpton is
threatening to file a lawsuit over letters written by
a by a group of Michigan elementary school students,
including five from Macomb County. The Democratic presidential
candidate claims the letters “mlm”, which
were scratched into the side of his car, are offensive
and degrading. “ Under no circumstances should
children be allowed to write such things”, Sharpton
said.
Apparently, the letters “mlm”
represent the Internet chat equivalent of “flipping-the-bird”.
An Internet expert informed us that these three letters
do indeed represent the hand gesture commonly displayed
by angry drivers, irate teenagers and elderly women
who’ve had too much to drink.
An attorney for the Reverend has informed
school officials that they must issue an apology within
30 days or "all legal remedies will be pursued."
The 27 students, who participated in
writing the letters, included 5 Hispanics, 13 Whites,
7 Blacks and 2 Asians. All agreed that they intended
to send a message. However, the Asian students are said
to have been the chief instigators behid the alleged
offense.
The students said they stand by their
statement and do not plan to apologize.
