Shreveport
Police Department demand the Sharpton boycott to be
called off, claiming it's unfair, unjust and heavy-handed
Metro
SHREVEPORT,
LA -- Presidential hopeful and civil rights superstar,
Al Sharpton made a stop in Shreveport, Louisiana this
week. Although his Presidential ambitions are at the
forefront, campaigning was not the sole reason for this
stop.
Before the Reverend addressed a group
of ultra-senior citizens at Lake Bethlehem Church he
had his limousine stop by the Shreveport Circle K at
Hearne and Midway. Sharpton wanted to visit the site
of the police shooting of Marquis Hudspeth. Apparently,
officers mistook Hudspeth’s cell phone for a weapon
and shot him. The incident was caught on video tape.
However, Sharpton did not want to miss the photo opportunity.
In response to the shooting, Sharpton
has announced a possible boycott of all drug dealers,
prostitutes and burglars. The idea is to put criminals
out of business and force the Shreveport police department
to begin laying off its officers. This is quite a move
considering the Reverend’s connection to drug
dealers, prostitutes and burglars. Much needed funds
for his presidential campaign may now be in jeopardy.
“ This boycott may certainly
affect me in the short term but it’s the right
thing to do. What I propose is for the good of all who
have been threatened by rogue cops. We’re going
to send a message”, said Sharpton.
After the hour and fifteen minute speech
in front of the mini market, the reverend led the crowd
in a chant of, “No justice, no crime”. The
shouting lasted for about thirty seconds, until the
crowd realized what they were saying.
Although the boycott has not
been formally announced, its organizers say they want
to put the word out immediately.
