Howard
Dean's confederate flag posters fail to win support
Nov. 14, 2003
Yesterday morning, Dartmouth
students awoke to find posters -- complete with Confederate
flag backgrounds -- advertising today's lecture by Democratic
presidential candidate Howard Dean on bulletin boards
across campus. The poster, which purported to be an
ad created by the Dean campaign on campus, was a hoax
and neither Generation Dean nor the Young Democrats
was involved in its creation, according to Young Democrats
President Paul Heintz '06.
"Whoever is doing this
is engaging in the most negative form of campaigning
imaginable or participating in the most awful sort of
prank," Heintz said. [More...]

Howard
Dean talks to White people about African-Americans. |
Arizona Daily --
"I still want to be the candidate for guys with
Confederate flags in their pickup trucks," the
former Vermont governor was quoted as saying in Saturday's
Des Moines Register. "We can't beat George Bush
unless we appeal to a broad cross-section of Democrats."
Dean said Saturday that he
was intending to encourage the return of Southern voters
who have abandoned the Democrats for decades but are
disaffected with the Republicans. [More...]

Dean orders
Sharpton to stay away from the White trash vote
Town Hall - 11/07/03
WASHINGTON -- Howard Dean wants the
white trash vote. That's not exactly what he said, but
that's clearly what he meant when he said he wanted
the votes of "guys with Confederate flags in their
pickup trucks.'' It was a beautiful moment. It produced
at the very next Democratic debate the perfect liberal
storm: a comedy of class snobbery, regional condescension
and political correctness, with a touch of race-baiting
thrown in for good measure. [More...]

Sharpton
is right when he calls Howard Dean's agenda 'Anti-Black'
Oct. 29, 2003
Washington Post -- Democratic
presidential candidate Al Sharpton launched a blistering
attack on Howard Dean yesterday, accusing his rival
of promoting an "anti-black agenda."
"Howard Dean's opposition
to affirmative action, his current support for the death
penalty and historic support of the NRA's [National
Rifle Association's] agenda amounts to an anti-black
agenda that will not sell in communities of color in
this country," Sharpton said in a statement. [More...]

Dean uses
slideshow to teach White people about African-Americans
Sep. 19, 2003
Metro World News -- On
Wednesday, Democratic front-runner Howard Dean was on
John Kerry's home turf going after the Senator on the
race issue.
NewsCenter 5's Shanaynay Johnson reported that Dean
isn't flinching from the controversial statement he
made during the September 9th Black Caucus debate. During
the contest Dean said, “"I'm the only White
politician that ever talks about race in front of White
people."
While visiting Massachusetts Dean explained that he
is the “only candidate who takes the time to show
predominantly Whites audiences what Black people look
like.” During the event he presented a slide show
depicting African-Americans of various shapes and sizes.
He also displayed a full size, anatomically correct
African American model. [More...]
